🥺 For Some Children, the Road to School Was the Most Dangerous Journey of Their Day

For many children, going to school means a short walk, a bus ride, or a parent dropping them at the gate.

But for children living in remote communities of Điện Biên Province, Vietnam, getting to class once meant facing a journey that could be frighteningly dangerous. 🌧️🌊

During the rainy season, rivers could swell rapidly, paths could become flooded, and temporary bridges could be washed away by powerful currents.

For some families, there were few safe alternatives.

Heartbreaking images showed parents carrying their children through rushing water, sometimes placing them inside large plastic bags in an attempt to keep them dry during the crossing. 🥺

And reaching the other side wasn’t necessarily the end of the journey.

Some children still had to trek for hours through steep and difficult mountain terrain before finally reaching their classrooms.

Yet they kept going.
