Calese Crowder, a 39-year-old California man, has been arrested again after Glendale police said he was allegedly involved in similar incidents at two stores. 😳
According to police, officers were called to a business on Glenoaks Boulevard after reports of a man crouching near shoppers and appearing to sniff them. A short time later, officers received another report from a nearby Marshalls involving similar behavior.
Police reviewed surveillance footage from the businesses and identified Crowder, eventually locating and arresting him on suspicion of violating the terms of his parole. He was being held without bail pending further proceedings.
And this wasn’t reportedly the first time authorities had encountered him.
Police and news reports have linked Crowder to similar incidents dating back to 2021, with arrests in Glendale and Burbank in subsequent years. In 2025, he was arrested twice in connection with alleged incidents at retail stores.
His name previously went viral after a woman posted video from a Barnes & Noble encounter in 2023. In the footage, Crowder appeared to crouch near a woman as she browsed books; she alleged that he was attempting to smell her. The video spread widely online and brought renewed attention to his previous encounters with law enforcement.
Now, another arrest has put the strange case back in the headlines.
For the people involved, however, there’s nothing funny about repeatedly feeling followed, watched, or subjected to unwanted behavior while simply trying to shop.
The latest allegations also raise questions about parole supervision, repeat offending, and how authorities should respond when similar behavior allegedly continues over several years.
For now, Crowder remains entitled to the legal process, and the latest allegations have yet to be resolved in court.
