After 21 extraordinary years, Lionel Messi has officially retired from international football, closing one of the most remarkable chapters in the history of the game.

At 39, Messi leaves Argentina as the nation’s most-capped player and all-time leading goalscorer, finishing with 207 appearances and 125 goals.

But his journey in the famous blue and white was never easy.
