My wife just served me breakfast… not sure if I should be calling the fire department or my lawyer

🍳 My Wife Just Served Me Breakfast… Now I’m Not Sure If I Need the Fire Department or My Lawyer 😂🔥

Marriage teaches you a lot of things.

You learn patience. You learn compromise. You learn that “What do you want for dinner?” is sometimes a question with no correct answer whatsoever. 😅

But this morning, I learned something new:

You should always inspect your breakfast before taking the first bite.

My wife walked into the kitchen carrying a plate and placed it in front of me with a smile.

“Breakfast is ready.”

I looked down.

She looked at me.

I looked back at the plate.

Something about the situation felt… suspicious. 👀

The eggs were sitting there innocently. The toast looked normal. The coffee smelled perfectly fine.

But then I noticed the expression on my wife’s face.

It wasn’t exactly a smile.

It was the kind of smile that made me wonder whether I was about to enjoy the best breakfast of my life—or become the subject of tomorrow morning’s local news. 😂

I picked up my fork.

Paused.

Put it down.

“Is there something I should know?” I asked.

She laughed.

That did not help.

Suddenly, several possibilities crossed my mind.

Maybe the eggs were burnt.

Maybe she had accidentally used salt instead of sugar.

Maybe this was revenge for something I had forgotten doing three weeks ago.

Or—and this was the most concerning possibility—maybe she had simply decided to experiment with a recipe she found online.

Anyone who has been married long enough knows that sentence can go in several very dangerous directions. 😭

I stared at my breakfast again.

Then I stared at my wife.

At that exact moment, I realized I had two emergency numbers in my head:

🚒 The fire department.

⚖️ My lawyer.

I just wasn’t sure which one to call first.

In the end, I took a tiny bite.

Nothing happened.

No smoke.

No explosion.

No emergency sirens.

Just breakfast.

I looked up at my wife.

She burst out laughing.

Apparently, the look on my face had been more entertaining than anything on television.

“Relax,” she said. “It’s perfectly fine.”

And you know what?

It actually was.

Maybe marriage really does teach you something important after all:

Sometimes you don’t need a fire department or a lawyer.

Sometimes you just need a little courage…

…and a very small first bite. 😂🍳❤️
